|
Accordionist David DiGiuseppe and guitarist Danny Gotham present a high–energy blend of Celtic, French, Brazilian and American music. Combining a technical mastery of their instruments with a passion for their playing, they bring to the stage a deep knowledge of their roots, a love for their art and a fire in their fingers. DiGiuseppe and Gotham infuse new life into past traditions, creating a distinctive sound that is relevant and captivating. Offering an entertaining and powerful performance of songs and instrumental pieces, their repertoire draws from many sources, including the dance tunes of the Celtic cultures, Brazilian choros, flourishing Parisian musettes, and the old time and bluegrass sounds of the American South. About Danny Gotham cut his musical teeth playing in various rock, blues, bluegrass and country bands. In 1980, Gotham took Second Place in the prestigious National Fingerpicking Guitar Championship in Winfield, KS. Since then he has opened for many major acts, including Arlo Guthrie, Doc Watson, David Bromberg, Leo Kottke and John Fahey. Gotham has performed on the nationally syndicated radio broadcast Michael Feldman’s Whad’ya Know. He appeared on the soundtrack of the PBS film Hungers of the Soul. And in one of his more unusual gigs, Gotham was the ukulele tutor for Tom Selleck as the actor prepared for the Broadway production A Thousand Clowns. In addition to working with DiGiuseppe, Gotham performs with North Carolina–based Cool Shooz and the Racquette River Rounders of upstate New York. Gotham has released ten recordings with his various jazz, blues and folk groups.
